Ocean Jasper is a spherulitic rhyolite, a volcanic rock of silicon dioxide with a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7, whose characteristic circular orbital patterns form by radial crystal growth during cooling. It is found only on coastal cliffs near Marovato in Madagascar, accessible by boat at certain tides, which makes it a genuinely limited source material; some colour zones show fluorescence under UV. It is a natural, untreated material. Origins: Madagascar, from the Marovato coastal cliffs.
