African Bloodstone Crystal Tower - 5-6.5 inch
Product Description
African Bloodstone Crystal Tower is a deep, dark green tower marked with vivid red-orange spotting, standing between 5 and 6.5 inches tall with a faceted polished point. Known in the trade as Seftonite, this South African material typically shows a more saturated, near-black green base with bolder spotting than classic Indian Bloodstone, and its dense, opaque surface often photographs and handles like a jasper even though it is mineralogically a chalcedony variety within the quartz family.
African Bloodstone is traditionally associated with protection and grounding, while also supporting energy and vitality. Its bold, saturated colouring and substantial presence make it well suited to display, grounding practice, and anyone drawn to a striking, deeply-toned green stone with a strong protective association.

Geological Information
Seftonite, also known as African Bloodstone, is a chalcedony with green chlorite inclusions and red-orange hematite spots, mineralogically similar to classic Bloodstone (Heliotrope) but sourced from South African rather than Indian deposits. The South African material generally shows a deeper, more saturated green base with more vivid spotting than the Indian material. This upright, tapered form is variously referred to as a Tower, an Obelisk, or a Point. Bloodstone carries one of the strongest and most consistent metaphysical histories of any green stone, used across ancient Babylonian, Egyptian, and Roman traditions, and extensively in medieval Christian tradition where the red spots were associated with the blood of Christ - Seftonite carries this same tradition as the South African variant of the mineral. Primary source: South Africa.
