The Amazonite Heart is a soft blue-green stone crossed by white feldspar striations that run through the body in irregular streaks and patches. Those pale markings are part of the stone rather than a flaw, and their density varies enormously from piece to piece, with some Hearts almost solid teal and others heavily veined. The polish is smooth with a slight silky quality where the feldspar cleavage catches the light. This is a large Heart, filling a palm with real weight behind it.

Geological Information
Amazonite is a potassium aluminium silicate of the feldspar family, triclinic in system, with a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5. The blue-green to teal colour comes from lead and water impurities held within the feldspar structure, and the white striations running through the body are areas of uncoloured feldspar, entirely natural and expected in the material. Despite the name, Amazonite has no significant deposits along the Amazon River; the naming is historical rather than geological. Most material is natural, though heavily saturated stock showing uniform colour with no white matrix at all can indicate dye, and the visible striations in this material are consistent with untreated stone. Amazonite was used in Ancient Egypt and was recovered from Tutankhamun's tomb. Sources include Brazil, the USA, Russia, Madagascar, Ethiopia, and India.
