Blood Moon Tarot

Blood Moon Tarot is painted in watercolour by Sam Guay, whose imagery draws on personal myth, the natural world, and dream-like inner landscape. The deck abandons the standard suit names for Dreams, Songs, Skins and Honey. It is built as a physical object as much as a reading tool: heavy card stock with a linen finish, edges painted deep burgundy, and a hardcover companion book, both presented in a box accented with gold foil.

Renaming the suits does real work. Dreams and Songs pull toward the interior and the spoken, Skins toward the body and its boundaries, Honey toward appetite and reward, and none of them carries the reflexive associations that Cups and Swords accumulate over years of use. A reader who knows the standard structure has to slow down and look, which is the point. The guidebook reinforces this by pairing each card's meaning and keywords with a question aimed back at the reader, so the deck suits someone reading for themselves and willing to sit with an answer rather than someone after a quick verdict.

The painted edges sit on the outside of the card block and will scuff and lighten with heavy handling. Riffle shuffling wears them fastest.
