Blue Agate Geode Half - 3.5 x 6.7 inch

A thin luminous seam running low beneath dark arcs
$51.95

Product Description

Low and broad with a gently domed top, this Blue Agate Geode Half carries banding that runs in long shallow arcs of navy and pale blue, opening onto a bright white crystalline seam along the lower centre. A mottled olive and gold rind covers the upper curve, unpolished and textured against the smooth cut face below it. The seam is narrow but luminous, drawing the eye to the base of the piece rather than its middle. It stands on a wide flat base.

Banded Agate is traditionally linked with balance and harmony, with a grounding and protective secondary character. Broad low specimens are typically set on horizontal surfaces where they can be seen from above as well as straight on, which makes a coffee table, chest, or windowsill the usual placement. Agate is commonly kept in shared rooms, and this piece works particularly well where the sightline across a surface needs to stay clear.

Geological Information
Banded Agate is microcrystalline quartz, silicon dioxide at Mohs 7, formed by repeated silica deposition within a cavity in host rock. A narrow residual seam of the kind at the base of this piece marks a cavity that came close to filling completely, the final layers converging until only a thin gap remained for free quartz to crystallise into. Its position low in the piece rather than centrally indicates the geode sat at an angle while filling, so gravity drew the depositing fluid downward and built the upper wall more slowly than the lower. The olive and gold rind is residual host basalt with iron staining. Agate is a banded variety of chalcedony within the quartz family, formed through successive layers of silica deposited within a cavity over time. It is common industry practice for coloured agate to be dyed or otherwise colour-enhanced to achieve vivid, saturated tones. Agate is recovered globally from Brazil, India, the USA, Mexico and Germany; this piece is Brazilian.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance.
