Blue Agate Geode Half - 3.3 x 6.2 inch

Wide arcs travelling the full length of the stone
$48.95

Product Description

This Blue Agate Geode Half runs long and low, its banding sweeping in wide horizontal arcs of navy, steel blue and cream from one end of the face to the other. The layers are broad and confidently drawn, each one clearly separate, and they follow the flattened curve of the cavity rather than closing into rings. A rough olive-gold rind edges the upper margin. The polish is high across the cut face and the wide flat base holds the piece steady at a low, spread stance.

Banded Agate is traditionally linked with balance, harmony, and a grounding steadiness. A long low piece is placed to be read across rather than into, which suits a coffee table, sideboard, or a broad shelf where its span has room. Agate has long been kept in rooms a household gathers in, and this format works well beneath a picture or mirror where a taller specimen would interrupt the line.

Geological Information
Banded Agate is silicon dioxide in its microcrystalline chalcedony form, Mohs 7, formed by cyclic silica deposition within a cavity in host rock. Broad, evenly spaced banding of the kind seen across this piece results from prolonged depositional episodes with a generous silica supply, each laying down a substantial layer before the cycle paused; the same total volume delivered in many brief pulses would have produced dozens of fine lines instead. The flattened profile comes from a gas vesicle compressed during lava flow, which is why the bands run as horizontal arcs rather than closing concentrically. Agate is a banded variety of chalcedony within the quartz family, formed through successive layers of silica deposited within a cavity over time. It is common industry practice for coloured agate to be dyed or otherwise colour-enhanced to achieve vivid, saturated tones. Agate is one of the most globally distributed minerals and among the most continuously used decorative stones in history, with commercial material from Brazil, India, the USA, Mexico and Germany. This piece originates in Brazil.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
