Blue Agate Slab - 6.2 x 5.9 inch

Rough gold outside, glittering white chamber within
$72.95

Product Description

A rough golden-brown rind covers the outside of this Blue Agate Slab, cut through to reveal a deep navy band and then a tall white druzy chamber that arches up through the centre. The crystal surface inside is coarse and heavily textured, glittering rather than smooth, and it fills the cavity generously from base to apex. The colour progression from earthy exterior to dark band to bright interior happens across a comparatively short distance, which makes the transition feel sudden. It stands upright on a flat cut base.

Banded Agate is traditionally associated with balance and harmony, with a grounding and protective secondary character. Pieces with a heavily crystalline interior are usually placed where light can reach into the cavity, near a lamp or a window, since the druzy texture depends on direct light to show properly. Agate is commonly kept in living rooms and studies, and a specimen of this size holds a shelf or side table as its main feature.

Geological Information
Banded Agate is a chalcedony variety of the quartz family, silicon dioxide at Mohs 7, formed by cyclic silica deposition in a cavity within host rock. This piece records two distinct growth modes in sequence: a banded phase, in which silica accreted flat against the cavity wall as dense fine-grained chalcedony, followed by a druzy phase, in which conditions shifted and the remaining fluid crystallised as discrete quartz crystals projecting into open space. The narrow banded zone relative to the large crystal chamber indicates that shift occurred early. The golden-brown rind is weathered host rock and iron staining at the outer surface. Agate is a banded variety of chalcedony within the quartz family, formed through successive layers of silica deposited within a cavity over time. It is common industry practice for coloured agate to be dyed or otherwise colour-enhanced to achieve vivid, saturated tones. Agate is recovered globally from Brazil, India, the USA, Mexico and Germany; this piece is from Brazil.

Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable.
