Blue Agate Geode Half - 9.4 x 7.4 inch

Banding wide enough to read across a room
$113.95

Product Description

The largest and heaviest piece in this consignment, this Blue Agate Geode Half stands tall through layered blue-grey banding to a broad pale interior that occupies most of the cut face. The scale changes the character of the material entirely: bands that read as fine lines on a smaller specimen run here as wide sweeping fields, and the crystalline centre is large enough to show real variation in texture across its own surface. A single golden fleck sits low in the cavity. The outer edge is dark and the base is cut flat and wide.

Banded Agate is traditionally linked with balance, harmony, and a grounding steadiness. A specimen of this size functions as the defining object in whatever space it occupies and is normally given a floor plinth, hearth, or a dedicated surface with clearance rather than a shared shelf. Agate has long been placed at the centre of a room's arrangement in traditional practice, and pieces at this scale are usually acquired singly for a specific position rather than as part of a collection.

Geological Information
Banded Agate is microcrystalline quartz, silicon dioxide at Mohs 7, formed by successive silica deposition within a cavity in host rock. A geode of this size begins as an unusually large gas vesicle trapped in cooling lava, and large vesicles are far less common than small ones because the gas volume required to form them tends to escape before the rock solidifies. That scarcity is why substantial geodes are recovered in much smaller numbers than compact ones from the same deposits. The wide banding here reflects the greater surface area each depositional layer had to cover, and the large open centre indicates the fluid supply was exhausted well before the void could close. Agate is a banded variety of chalcedony within the quartz family, formed through successive layers of silica deposited within a cavity over time. It is common industry practice for coloured agate to be dyed or otherwise colour-enhanced to achieve vivid, saturated tones. Sources include Brazil, India, the USA, Mexico and Germany, with this piece originating in Brazil.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
