Blue Agate Slab - 4.4 x 5.7 inch

A wide bright cavity framed in gold and deep blue
$46.95

Product Description

Golden olive tones run along the top edge and down the left flank of this Blue Agate Slab, meeting a band of deep blue that curves around a white crystalline interior. The cavity is generous relative to the piece's size, opening across most of the cut face, and its crystal surface is coarse and bright against the smooth banding that frames it. The warm and cool halves of the outer rim are distinctly different in tone, which gives the piece a sense of having two sides. It stands on a flat cut base.

Banded Agate is traditionally linked with balance and harmony, with a grounding, protective secondary quality. Pieces with a large open cavity are often chosen where the crystalline interior is the point of interest rather than the banding, which suits placement at eye level on a shelf or in a cabinet rather than looking down on it from above. Agate is generally kept in rooms in regular use, and a specimen of this size shares a surface easily with books or other objects.

Geological Information
Banded Agate is a chalcedony variety of the quartz family, silicon dioxide at Mohs 7, formed as silica-rich fluids fill a cavity in host rock in successive layers. A large residual cavity relative to overall size, as on this piece, indicates that the fluid supply ran out well before the void was filled, leaving the last stage as free-growing quartz crystal against a comparatively thin banded wall. The coarse texture of that crystal reflects slow growth into open space with room to develop, unlike the dense fine-grained chalcedony of the layers around it. The golden olive along the outer edge is host rock residue and iron staining. Agate is a banded variety of chalcedony within the quartz family, formed through successive layers of silica deposited within a cavity over time. It is common industry practice for coloured agate to be dyed or otherwise colour-enhanced to achieve vivid, saturated tones. Agate is recovered globally from Brazil, India, the USA, Mexico and Germany, and this piece originates in Brazil.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance.
