Blue Agate Slab - 4.8 x 5.9 inch

Gold at the edge, gold at the heart, cool blue between
$58.95

Product Description

A rim of weathered golden ochre runs the full outer edge of this Blue Agate Slab, giving way inward to blue-grey banding and then to a pale centre with a warm tan core at its heart. The gold appears at both the outside and the middle, framing the cool blue between them, which is an unusual arrangement in this material and gives the face a clear layered symmetry. The banding itself is soft-edged and wide. It stands on a flat cut base, marginally wider than tall.

Banded Agate is traditionally associated with balance and harmony, and secondarily with grounding and protection. A piece where warm and cool tones alternate tends to sit well in mixed rooms rather than requiring a particular scheme, and this one suits a bookshelf, entry table, or living room surface. Agate has long been kept in spaces where people gather, and the moderate size makes it easy to place without dedicating a surface to it.

Geological Information
Banded Agate is a chalcedony variety of the quartz family, silicon dioxide at Mohs 7, formed by cyclic silica deposition in a cavity within host rock. The ochre colouration at both the outer rim and the core of this piece is iron oxide, introduced at two separate points in the sequence: once early, as groundwater carried iron through the outermost layers, and again at the end, when the last confined fluid deposited its remaining mineral load in the shrinking central space. The cool blue-grey between them formed during the long middle phase when the fluid ran comparatively clean. Agate is a banded variety of chalcedony within the quartz family, formed through successive layers of silica deposited within a cavity over time. It is common industry practice for coloured agate to be dyed or otherwise colour-enhanced to achieve vivid, saturated tones. Agate is among the most widely distributed minerals on Earth, with commercial material from Brazil, India, the USA, Mexico and Germany. This piece originates in Brazil.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
