Blue Agate Geode Half - 6.0 x 5.0 inch

A white doorway cut high into deep navy stone
$59.95

Product Description

Taller than it is wide, this Blue Agate Geode Half carries a high white arch at its centre, the interior rising to a rounded apex like a doorway cut into deep navy stone. The banding follows that arch faithfully on both sides, narrowing as it climbs, and the pale crystalline chamber within holds a soft matte texture against the glossy polish of the surrounding layers. The dark outer rim is thick and unbroken. The base is cut flat and the piece stands with a clear upright emphasis.

Banded Agate is traditionally associated with balance, harmony, and a grounding steadiness. An upright piece of this proportion is usually given a position where its height can be read cleanly, against a plain wall or at the end of a shelf rather than in the middle of a crowded surface. Agate has long been placed near thresholds and entryways in traditional practice, and the arched form makes this one a natural fit for a hall table or an entry console.

Geological Information
Banded Agate is silicon dioxide in its microcrystalline chalcedony form, Mohs 7, trigonal, built from silica deposited in successive layers within a cavity in host rock. The arched interior of this piece reflects the geometry of the original gas vesicle, which was taller than it was broad and tapered toward its upper end; the agate layers simply followed that outline inward as they accumulated, preserving the void's shape at progressively smaller scale. The pale chamber at the centre is quartz that crystallised into the last remaining open space. Agate is a banded variety of chalcedony within the quartz family, formed through successive layers of silica deposited within a cavity over time. It is common industry practice for coloured agate to be dyed or otherwise colour-enhanced to achieve vivid, saturated tones. Agate carries one of the longest documented records of any decorative stone, named after the Achates River in Sicily and used across the ancient Mediterranean and Near East. Sources include Brazil, India, the USA, Mexico and Germany, with this piece from Brazil.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
