Blue Agate Slab - 4.8 x 7.8 inch

A soft grey dome with one warm pocket at its base
$61.95

Product Description

This Blue Agate Slab takes the form of a broad, low dome in soft dove grey and pale blue, its banding gentle enough that the layers read as a single graded wash from a distance. A small dark pocket sits low at the centre where the cavity did not fully close, edged with a warm tan deposit that is the only strong colour note on an otherwise cool face. The polish is smooth and slightly reflective, deepening the grey without adding contrast. It sits wide and flat on a cut base.

Banded Agate is traditionally linked with balance, harmony, and a steadying, grounding character. Pieces this quiet in colour are often chosen where a specimen needs to sit within an existing scheme rather than assert itself against one, and this one suits a mantel, console, or sideboard in a neutral room. People commonly place agate where a household passes it regularly, and its broad low profile works particularly well beneath artwork or a mirror where a tall piece would interrupt the line.

Geological Information
Banded Agate is microcrystalline quartz, silicon dioxide at Mohs 7, formed by cyclic silica deposition within a cavity in host rock. Geodes of this broad, flattened profile originate in gas vesicles that were compressed as the surrounding lava cooled and settled, producing a wide shallow void rather than a rounded one, which the agate then filled layer by layer along its full span. Where consecutive fluid influxes carried similar mineral content, the resulting bands grade softly into one another instead of meeting at hard boundaries, which accounts for the washed, low-contrast layering on this piece. The tan edging at the central pocket is late-stage iron oxide deposited as the system ran dry. Agate is a banded variety of chalcedony within the quartz family, formed through successive layers of silica deposited within a cavity over time. It is common industry practice for coloured agate to be dyed or otherwise colour-enhanced to achieve vivid, saturated tones. Agate is one of the most widely distributed minerals on Earth, recovered from Brazil, India, the USA, Mexico and Germany; this piece originates in Brazil.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
