Amethyst Geode Half With Blue Agate - 7.9 x 6.5 inch

A dark crystal pocket set deep in blue-grey stone
$72.95

Product Description

Broad blue-grey Banded Agate makes up the visible bulk of this Amethyst Geode Half, its layers sweeping up and over the cavity in a rounded arch. Set deep at the base of that opening is a dark crystal pocket, the Amethyst here reaching a much stronger, almost smoky purple than the pale material common to the format, and reading nearly black where the light does not fall directly on it. The contrast between the cool banded exterior and that dense inner pocket is the piece's defining feature. It stands squarely on a wide flat cut base.

Amethyst is traditionally linked with intuition, spiritual awareness, and calm, and pieces where a deep crystal pocket sits within a larger stone body are often chosen for that sense of something held rather than displayed openly. This one suits a hearth, low plinth, or console where it can be approached and looked into. Traditional practice positions a geode of this scale as the anchor of a room's arrangement, and its weight and footprint mean it is generally set once and left in place.

Geological Information
Amethyst is the purple quartz variety, silicon dioxide at Mohs 7 in the trigonal system, its colour arising from iron impurities together with natural irradiation within the crystal lattice. Higher iron content and greater radiation exposure produce the deeper, smokier purples seen in this piece's crystal pocket, at the opposite end of the range from the pale lilac material more commonly recovered from the same deposits. The surrounding body is Banded Agate, a chalcedony variety of the same family and hardness, formed as silica-rich hydrothermal fluids filled a cavity and deposited in cyclic layers; the blue-grey cast comes from light scattering within the fine silica structure. In a geode the agate lines the void first and the crystal grows inward afterwards, so the proportion of banded shell to crystal pocket is fixed by how much space remained when crystallisation began. This piece is from Brazil, one of the principal sources alongside Uruguay, Zambia, Madagascar, Russia, South Korea, and Canada.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.

Care Note
Amethyst fades with prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Display the piece away from a sunlit window, and lift it from the base rather than by the crystal points.
