Angelite is a calcium sulfate of the anhydrite family (Mohs 3.5, orthorhombic), pale blue to blue-grey from manganese and other trace impurities. It forms from compressed celestite over millions of years and is sometimes called blue anhydrite in mineral contexts. It is untreated natural material with no deep historical tradition, being primarily a late twentieth-century metaphysical-market stone. It is sourced primarily from Peru, with material also from Germany, Poland, Libya, and Mexico.
