Pink Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral of the calcite family (Mohs 3, trigonal), occurring in massive form with a waxy lustre and a colour range from pale blush to medium pink caused by trace impurities or iron oxide. It is untreated natural material and, like other calcites, is soft and acid-sensitive. Many pink calcites fluoresce under ultraviolet light, a genuine and distinctive property of the material. It should be distinguished from Mangano Calcite where possible. It is sourced from Mexico, Peru, and the USA.
