Crowley Thoth Tarot Premier Edition presents the small-format Thoth deck in an enlarged box built for display. Lady Frieda Harris painted the seventy-eight cards to instructions from Aleister Crowley, working in an art deco idiom of hard geometry, prismatic colour and interlocking planes. The set includes a booklet and a large full-colour spread sheet.

Behind the paintings sits the kabbalistic and astrological system Crowley set out in The Book of Thoth, and the attributions are carried in the composition itself rather than annotated on the card. That makes the deck demanding in a particular way: the colour and geometry can be read intuitively with no background at all, but the structure only opens for a reader who brings the Hermetic material to it, and the two modes give quite different readings of the same card. The spread sheet is worth its size, laying the layouts out at a scale that can actually be worked from on a table rather than squinted at in a booklet.
