Selenite Egg - 2.5 inch

Silky white striations with a soft lunar glow
$7.95

Product Description

The Selenite Egg is a polished egg in white to near-colourless stone, marked by the fine fibrous striations that run the length of the surface and give Selenite its soft, silky lustre. Turned in the light, those parallel lines catch a gentle satin sheen, and the translucent body seems to glow softly. The egg form is smooth and rounded, sitting comfortably in the palm or upright on a small stand.

Selenite is traditionally associated with clarity, calm and a sense of mental quiet, and is one of the classic stones for stillness and reflection. It is commonly kept on a desk or bedside, held during meditation, or placed in a room as a quiet, settling presence. The smooth egg shape makes it a tactile, calming object to hold.

As a natural stone, each Selenite Egg differs in the pattern of its striations and the degree of its translucency, so the piece you receive will be individual to itself.

Geological Information
Selenite is a crystalline variety of gypsum, a calcium sulfate mineral that forms in the monoclinic system at a Mohs hardness of just 2 to 2.5, making it one of the softer display minerals. Its name derives from Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, a reference to its soft white luminosity. Selenite is capable of forming extraordinary crystals: Mexico's Cave of the Crystals at Naica, discovered in 2000, contains selenite crystals exceeding ten metres in length, among the largest mineral crystals ever recorded, and thin selenite slabs were used as window material in ancient Mesopotamia and Rome before glass was widely available. This material is sourced from Morocco, the primary commercial source, with further deposits in Mexico, the United States, Poland and Australia.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.

Care Note
Selenite is water-soluble and very soft, so prolonged contact with water will permanently damage the surface and it scratches easily. Keep it dry, never cleanse it in water, and store it apart from harder stones so the surface stays smooth.
