Ethereal Visions Illuminated Tarot is an 80-card deck drawn in the art nouveau style, every image hand-drawn and coloured by Matt Hughes and finished with gold foil stamping. The foil catches light across the linework and gives the cards a genuine illuminated quality rather than a printed suggestion of one. Two additional cards supplement the traditional Major Arcana, and the deck ships with a 140-page expanded full-colour guidebook.

Art nouveau's flowing line and ornamental framing suit Tarot imagery closely, and the meticulous craftsmanship here is the point of the deck as much as the readings it gives. Hughes is a self-taught artist working in the tradition of what is now called the Golden Age of Illustration, and the deck sits as comfortably with collectors of illustrated books as with practising readers.
