Cool blue fluorite for calm and clear thinking

Product Description

Blue Fluorite Tumbled Stones show a cool blue to blue-grey across a glassy polished surface, often with paler zones and gentle internal banding. The colour is calm and slightly cloudy rather than electric, and light moves softly through the more translucent pieces. The size range covers small pocket stones up to comfortably palm-sized.

Blue Fluorite is traditionally associated with calm and clear, settled thinking, and is often chosen by people who want a quieting presence for focus, rest or composed communication. It is commonly kept at a desk, held in meditation, or carried through a busy day. The soft blue colour also makes it an easy stone to display in the light.

Each Blue Fluorite stone carries its own depth of blue and pattern of banding, so no two are alike.

Geological Information
Blue Fluorite is calcium fluoride, a halide mineral of the cubic system, soft at a Mohs hardness of 4. Its blue to blue-grey colour comes from trace impurities and radiation-induced colour centres within the crystal lattice. China produces the majority of commercial blue fluorite. It is distinct from Blue John, the banded blue-purple fluorite found only at Blue John Cavern in Derbyshire, England, which has been mined and carved since the 18th century; standard blue fluorite is typically less banded. The mineral takes its name from the Latin fluere, to flow, referencing its historical use as a metallurgical flux, and fluorite has been used since Roman times. This material is sourced primarily from China, with further deposits in the UK, the USA and South Africa.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.

Care Note
Blue Fluorite is soft at Mohs 4 with perfect octahedral cleavage and can chip if knocked. It is also sensitive to heat and strong acids. Handle it gently and store it apart from harder stones.
