Fujima Blue Skull and Butterfly Stick and Cone Incense Burner (11 in)

A skull and butterfly tray for stick or cone, marking mortality and transformation together
$26.95

Product Description

The Fujima Blue Skull and Butterfly Incense Burner takes the shape of a long, narrow boat tray, eleven inches from end to end, cast in polyresin and finished in a deep blue with the entire surface worked in raised gold detail. A sugar skull sits upright at one end, its eyes set with pale blue gems and its brow crowned in a spread of gold butterfly wings, while the tray's length carries a trailing vine of leaves and blossoms down to a gold lotus at the far end. A single stick incense holder is built into the skull's base, and the lotus at the opposite end forms a shallow dish sized for a cone, so the same piece works either format without needing to be swapped or replaced. The gold work sits proud of the blue background rather than lying flat, giving the whole tray a genuinely carved, dimensional look even though it is cast, not hand-carved.

The skull and butterfly together form one of the oldest visual pairings in memento mori tradition, the skull marking mortality and the butterfly standing for transformation and what continues after it, a motif especially familiar from Day of the Dead imagery. Displayed as a piece in its own right or used to hold lit incense, it suits anyone drawn to ancestor work, transformation, or reflective, ritual-minded décor. The incense shown in the product photography is for demonstration only and is not included; incense is sold separately.
