The Fujima Melting Clock Backflow Incense Burner takes the surrealist image of a clock sagging out of shape and builds it as a working object. The face slumps forward over a cream and gold case resting on a stepped teal diamond-patterned base, with red numerals and hands still legible across the warped dial, and a small teacup and candlestick worked into the form alongside it. Behind the face sits the cone chamber: smoke from a lit backflow cone feeds downward across the melting form, pooling and running off the base rather than rising, so the piece is actually doing something rather than just sitting there. Backflow incense cones are sold separately, and the clock's face lights up on 1 AA battery, also not included.

The piece is cast in polyresin and hand-finished, which is what holds the fine detail in the numerals, the teacup handle, and the diamond pattern around the base.
