The embedded accent stone is genuine Amethyst, a member of the Quartz family (silicon dioxide, Mohs 7, trigonal system). Its purple to violet colour comes from trace iron impurities combined with natural irradiation within the crystal lattice, ranging from pale lilac to a deep royal purple. Amethyst forms as prismatic hexagonal crystals lining geodes, vugs, and alluvial deposits, and takes its name from the Ancient Greek amethystos, meaning "not drunk" - worn across Greek and Roman cultures as a talisman against intoxication, and used extensively in royal and ecclesiastical jewellery throughout European history, where purple carried associations with both royalty and spiritual authority.
