Larvikite is an igneous rock (an augite syenite) at a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5, its distinctive silver-blue schiller produced by light interference within layered feldspar crystals in the rock matrix. It is found exclusively in the Larvik region of Norway for genuine material and is widely used as an architectural stone in facades and countertops worldwide. It is sometimes called Norwegian Moonstone or Blue Pearl Granite in the trade, though neither name is mineralogically accurate. This material is sourced from Norway.
