Geological Information
K2, also called K2 Granite or K2 Jasper, is a feldspathic white granite carrying orbicular inclusions of blue azurite with occasional green malachite, with a Mohs hardness of around 6 to 7 for the granite base. Despite the "jasper" trade name it is not a jasper or silica rock but a genuine granite-and-azurite combination, and the blue orbs are natural azurite rather than dye, which is worth clarifying for informed customers. It is found at the base of K2 Mountain in the Karakoram Range of Pakistan, the source of its name. Its origin is Pakistan.
