Mookaite is an Australian jasper formed from the silicified remains of ancient radiolarian marine organisms, a sedimentary chert with a Mohs hardness of 7. Its vivid range of red, yellow, cream, purple, and white is entirely natural and untreated. The material is strictly single-source, found only along Mooka Creek in Western Australia, which makes its provenance unusually specific. It has been used by Aboriginal Australians for thousands of years and remains a genuine cultural heritage material. Its sole origin is Western Australia.
