Mixed Agate with Transparency Tumbled Stone - 20-40 mm
Product Description
Mixed Agate Tumbled Stones bring together a varied assortment of agates, including translucent and banded pieces in warm browns, creams, greys and soft reds, polished to a smooth, glossy finish. Some stones let light pass through while others are more opaque and banded, giving the selection real depth and variety. At this larger size each stone has a substantial presence in the hand.
Agate is traditionally associated with stability and a refined sense of balance, and is often chosen by people who want a grounding, steadying stone with everyday versatility. The pieces are commonly used for display, decorative placement or curated collections, and are equally at home carried or set on a shelf. The mix of tones and transparency makes the assortment especially engaging as a group.
Because the assortment draws on varied agate material, every stone is distinct in colour, banding and clarity.

Geological Information
Agate is a chalcedony variety of the quartz family, microcrystalline silicon dioxide of the trigonal system at a Mohs hardness of 7. Banded agate, the foundational form, is created as silica-rich hydrothermal fluids fill cavities in host rock, depositing alternating silica layers of varying mineral content; each layer records a separate deposition event, producing the characteristic banding, while more translucent pieces show fewer mineral impurities. Agate is among the most globally distributed minerals and among the oldest documented gemstones in human use, named by the Greek philosopher Theophrastus after the Achates River in Sicily and used extensively across ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece and Rome. Some commercial agate is dyed to enhance colour; this assortment is offered as natural agate, and any dyed material would be disclosed. This material is drawn from mixed worldwide origins, including Brazil, India, the USA, Mexico and Germany.
