Carnelian Tumbled Stone - 10-20 mm
Product Description
These Carnelian Tumbled Stones show the warm orange to red-orange colour the chalcedony is valued for, polished into smooth rounded pieces with a glossy surface. The tone ranges from pale peach to deep blood orange, often with a cloudy, glowing colour distribution visible when held to light. The small palm size makes them easy to pocket, carry, or keep in a bowl.
Carnelian is traditionally associated with creativity, drive and the confidence to express yourself, and is commonly chosen by people who want a warm, motivating stone for work and creative projects. Many keep a piece on a desk, carry one through the day, or hold it before a task that needs energy and focus. It is often given to artists, performers, and anyone starting something that calls for boldness.
Each Carnelian stone is natural, so the depth of orange and the way the colour clouds through the stone will be unique to the piece you receive.

Geological Information
Carnelian is a chalcedony variety of the quartz family, silicon dioxide with a Mohs hardness of 7, coloured orange to red-orange by iron oxide impurities. It is one of the oldest continuously used gemstones in human history, used in ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece and Rome for seals, amulets and jewellery, found in Tutankhamun's tomb, and named among the twelve stones of the Hebrew High Priest's breastplate. It was favoured for seals because wax does not stick to it. Heat treatment is common and standard practice, since natural carnelian tends toward a brownish orange and heat brings out the vivid red-orange the stone is known for; some material on the market is dyed agate, which shows colour concentrated along bands rather than the cloudy distribution of true carnelian. Disclosure applies where known. It is sourced from Brazil, India, Madagascar, Uruguay and Germany.
