Black Obsidian Double Terminated Point - 1.25 inch

Glassy jet-black volcanic glass, pointed at both ends
$2.95

Product Description

The Double Terminated Black Obsidian Point is a small polished piece of jet-black volcanic glass worked to a point at both ends, with the deep, glassy shine the material is known for. The surface is smooth and reflective, holding the light in its solid black body, and the double-terminated shape makes it a compact piece to hold or display.

Black Obsidian is traditionally one of the best-known protective and grounding stones, also associated with facing difficulty and transformation. People keep a small point like this close, hold it when they want to feel grounded, or carry it as a protective token, and double-terminated pieces are popular for energy work.

As a natural material, each Black Obsidian point varies slightly in surface character and sheen, so the one you receive will be its own.

Geological Information
Black Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass, a silicon dioxide formed when silica-rich lava cools too rapidly for crystals to form, at a Mohs hardness of 5 to 5.5. Its jet-black colour comes from iron, magnesium and other mineral impurities in the glass. Obsidian's characteristic conchoidal, shell-like fracture produces extremely sharp edges, a property that made it one of the most important tool materials in human prehistory, used for cutting tools and weapons for over 700,000 years and traded across prehistoric networks in the Mediterranean, Mesoamerica and the Pacific; worked obsidian blades can be sharper than surgical steel. This material is documented from the United States, Mexico, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Turkey and Armenia.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.

Care Note
Obsidian is a glass at Mohs 5 to 5.5 and can chip or scratch, and the slender points are the most fragile part. Handle it gently and store it apart from harder stones.
