By day it reads as plain grey rock, but under an ultraviolet lamp it lights up with a vivid orange glow across the surface. It is a striking, dual-natured piece that hides its most dramatic feature until the light is right.

Yooperlite is commonly associated with clarity and heightened intuition, and its hidden glow makes it a favourite display and altar piece. As a carved Skull Bowl it works as a bold focal object and a conversation starter for anyone drawn to stones with an unusual property.

Each Yooperlite Skull Bowl is a natural stone, so the grey daylight tone and the pattern and brightness of the orange fluorescence will vary from piece to piece. An ultraviolet light is needed to see the glow and is not included.

Key Properties
Primary Focus: Clarity & Focus
Secondary Focus: Intuition & Spiritual Awareness
Chakra Association: Third Eye, Crown
Zodiac Sign: Gemini, Aquarius
Chinese Zodiac: Rat, Monkey
Ruling Planet: Mercury
Elements: Fire, Earth
Mohs Hardness: 5.5-6
Stone Family: Igneous Rock
Material: Natural Yooperlite
Origin: Lake Superior, Canada and USA
Form: Skull Bowl
Finish: Polished
Approximate Size: 60-61 mm (2.4 inches)
Approximate Weight: 393 g
Listing: Single unit

Geological Information
Yooperlite is a fluorescent sodalite-bearing syenite, an igneous rock with a Mohs hardness of 5.5 to 6. Grey to tan in ordinary light, it glows vivid orange under ultraviolet light due to sulphur-bearing sodalite inclusions, and the glow is only visible under UV. It was identified and named in 2017 by mineral hunter Erik Rintamaki, the name deriving from "Yooper," the term for residents of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and it is also marketed as Emberlite. The fluorescence is natural and intrinsic to the sodalite, and no ultraviolet light source is included. Origins: the Lake Superior shoreline of Michigan's Upper Peninsula and Ontario, Canada, where the stone is naturally tumbled by glacial and wave action.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0778/7200/5350/files/Untitleddesign-2026-07-01T213546.896.jpg?v=1782922074
