This Yooperlite Moon is a polished grey crescent raised on an included zodiac stand, standing roughly 8 inches tall as a set. In ordinary light the stone looks like an unassuming grey rock, but under an ultraviolet lamp it lights up with a vivid orange glow scattered across the surface. The stand lifts and displays the Moon so the fluorescence can be shown off, and the two are sold together as one piece. An ultraviolet light is needed to see the orange glow and is not included.

Geological Information
Yooperlite is a fluorescent sodalite-bearing syenite, an igneous rock in which the mineral sodalite fluoresces a vivid orange under ultraviolet light due to sulphur-bearing inclusions within its structure. It is grey to tan in ordinary light, with a Mohs hardness of 5.5 to 6, and the glow is only visible under UV. The material was identified and named in 2017 by mineral hunter Erik Rintamaki, the name deriving from "Yooper," the colloquial term for residents of Michigan's Upper Peninsula; it is also marketed as Emberlite. The fluorescence is entirely natural and intrinsic to the sodalite content, and no ultraviolet light source is included with the piece. Origins: the Lake Superior shoreline of Michigan's Upper Peninsula and Ontario, Canada, where the stones are naturally tumbled smooth by glacial and wave action.
