Angelite is the trade name for a pale blue variety of anhydrite, a calcium sulphate mineral that crystallises in the orthorhombic system at a soft Mohs hardness of 3.5. Its pale blue to blue-grey colour comes from trace impurities, and it forms from compressed celestite over long geological timescales. It is water soluble, so prolonged water contact will permanently damage the surface. This upright, tapered form is variously referred to as a Tower, an Obelisk, or a Point. Origins: Peru is the primary source.
