Title

Product Description

This Black Obsidian Tumbled Stone is a glossy, jet-black volcanic glass polished to a deep mirror shine. The surface is smooth and reflective, sometimes showing a faint sheen or translucency at the edges when held to light. Rounded and palm-friendly, the Black Obsidian has the cool, glassy feel characteristic of the material.

Black Obsidian is traditionally associated with protection and grounding, and is often used for releasing or working through difficult patterns. Many people keep it by the door, hold it during shadow or release work, or place it in a grid as a protective anchor. Its deep, absorbing colour and long history as a ritual and tool stone make the Black Obsidian a staple for grounding practice.

Every Black Obsidian piece is natural volcanic glass and unique, varying in sheen and surface character from the example shown.

Geological Information
Black Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass of silicon dioxide, amorphous rather than crystalline, with a Mohs hardness of 5 to 5.5. Its jet-black colour comes from iron, magnesium, and other mineral impurities suspended in the glass. Obsidian forms when silica-rich lava cools too quickly for crystals to develop, and its conchoidal, shell-like fracture produces edges that can be sharper than surgical steel, a property that made it one of the most important tool materials in human prehistory for over 700,000 years. Sources include Mexico, the United States, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Turkey, and Armenia.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.

Care Note
Black Obsidian is a volcanic glass (Mohs 5 to 5.5) and can scratch or chip if knocked or dropped. Handle it gently and store it apart from harder stones; a chipped edge can be sharp.
