Blue Goldstone Worry Stone - 1.75 inch

A pocket of night sky glittering with copper stars
$11.95

Product Description

Blue Goldstone Worry Stone cut to a smooth oval with a thumb hollow across one face. The body reads almost black at rest and resolves into a deep cobalt blue when light reaches it, shot through with a fine dust of copper sparkle that is denser on some pieces than others. The surface is glass-smooth and the piece is lighter than a mineral of the same size, which is the first clue to what it is.

Blue Goldstone is used for intuition and for settling, and it is one of the few man-made materials with a genuine following in its own right rather than as a substitute. It is commonly carried in a pocket, kept where lamplight will reach it in the evening, or given to someone who responds to how a thing looks before anything else. The night-sky effect is the whole reason it sells.

Geological Information
Blue Goldstone is a man-made glass, not a naturally occurring mineral, at Mohs 5.5 to 6. Cobalt oxide added to silica glass produces the deep blue, and copper crystal platelets suspended through the matrix produce the metallic sparkle, an effect called aventurescence that is optically identical to the sparkle in natural aventurine but engineered here rather than geological. The process descends from seventeenth century Venetian glassmaking, where tradition credits the Miotti glassmakers of Murano with an accidental discovery, though that account may be apocryphal. Blue Goldstone is visually distinct from the copper-brown original and from the green variety, its deep night-sky colour coming entirely from the cobalt. Production began in Murano and has since moved primarily to China. This piece is man-made and is disclosed as such.

AuturaSol Standard
Each piece is selected for its quality, beauty, and visual consistency. Where a material is man-made or enhanced, this is clearly disclosed within the product information. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
