The Peach Moonstone Heart is a warm apricot to soft coral stone with a translucent body that glows when held against light. A pale sheen floats across the polished surface as the piece tilts, sitting just under the skin of the stone rather than reflecting off it, and it moves with the viewing angle rather than staying put. The Heart is small and smoothly finished, easy to hold between two fingers. Depth of colour and strength of the sheen vary from piece to piece.

Geological Information
Peach Moonstone is orthoclase feldspar, a potassium aluminium silicate of the monoclinic system, with a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5, carrying trace iron that produces the warm peach to apricot body colour. The floating sheen, properly called adularescence, comes from the same internal structure found across all moonstone varieties: alternating microscopic layers of orthoclase and albite that scatter light as it enters the stone, throwing it back as a soft glow that appears to sit beneath the surface. The material is natural and requires no treatment. Sri Lanka produces the finest translucent peach material, though India is the primary commercial source, with additional material from Madagascar.
