Product Description

The Petrified Wood Heart carries the grain of the tree it once was, running in fine parallel lines and occasional ring segments across the polished face. Colour moves through tan, honey, red-brown, and grey, often shifting several times within one piece as the original wood structure changes direction. The polish is smooth and slightly waxy in feel, and the Heart is broad and solid, sitting in the palm with the density of stone rather than the lightness the pattern suggests. Grain direction and colour differ entirely from piece to piece.

Petrified Wood is traditionally associated with protection and grounding, and its reputation leans heavily on the material's own age, with the stone commonly described as a connection to deep time and long patience. That same age gives it a reading of balance and harmony too, tied to steadiness through slow change rather than sudden effort. The Heart shape offers a broad flat face for the grain to show across, which is the main reason this Form suits the material so well.

Geological Information
Petrified Wood is silicified wood, a silicon dioxide pseudomorph at Mohs 7, meaning the mineral has taken on the shape and internal structure of something it originally was not. It forms when ancient wood is buried under sediment and saturated by silica-rich groundwater, which replaces the organic material molecule by molecule over millions of years while preserving the original cellular structure, growth rings, and grain. The colour range of brown, red, grey, yellow, and white reflects the original wood tones and the trace minerals present in the replacing silica. The material is a natural fossil and requires no treatment. Trees from the Arizona Petrified Forest date to the Triassic period, roughly 225 million years old, and Native American traditions of the Southwest hold petrified wood as sacred material connected to ancestors and deep time. Sources include the USA, Madagascar, Indonesia, Argentina, and Egypt, with this material sourced from Madagascar.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
