Picasso Jasper Worry Stone - 2 inch

Ink lines swept across pale stone, no two compositions alike
$10.95

Product Description

Picasso Jasper Worry Stone cut to a broad oval with a thumb hollow. The surface carries bold linear markings in black, charcoal and warm brown drawn across a pale grey to cream ground, the lines running in long sweeps and abrupt angles rather than in any repeating pattern. The polish is high and the markings read as drawn onto the stone rather than embedded in it, which is the effect the trade name refers to.

Picasso Jasper is traditionally associated with creative work and with change, and it tends to appeal to people who choose a stone by how it looks rather than by correspondence. It is commonly kept on a desk or work surface, held while thinking through a problem, or given to someone who makes things. Every piece is genuinely different in composition, which is unusual even among patterned stones.

Geological Information
Picasso Jasper, also called Picasso Stone or Picasso Marble, is a metamorphic limestone recrystallised into marble at Mohs 3 to 4, and despite the trade name it is not a true silica-based jasper but a calcium carbonate rock. The bold abstract linear markings come from graphite and iron oxide deposited through the marble during metamorphism, and the resemblance to abstract painting is what gave the material its modern trade name in the twentieth century. That name is now universally established in the market even though it is mineralogically inaccurate. The hardness difference matters: a true jasper would sit at Mohs 7, where this material is a great deal softer. Utah in the USA is the primary source.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding. Picasso Jasper is sensitive to acids and can be damaged by contact with household cleaning products or skincare products.
