Iolite Top Polished Point - 2.5-2.75 inch

Colour-shifting blue-violet crystal polished to a point
$17.95

Product Description

The Iolite Point is a single upright point with a polished top and a natural base, in a deep blue-violet to grey-blue that shifts noticeably as the stone is turned. That colour shift, or pleochroism, is the defining feature of Iolite, so each Iolite Point shows different blues and greys depending on the viewing angle. The polished termination stands cleanly on a desk, shelf or altar while the base is left natural.

Iolite is traditionally associated with intuition and spiritual awareness alongside clarity and focus, often called a stone for inner vision and clear direction. It is commonly kept in a workspace or meditation area, held during reflection, or placed where its shifting blue-violet can be caught in the light. A polished point keeps the stone upright and easy to display.

Sold as single pieces of natural stone, each Iolite Point differs in the depth of its blue-violet, the strength of its colour shift and its exact size, and the photographs show representative pieces.

Geological Information
Iolite is the gem variety of the mineral cordierite, a magnesium aluminium silicate (Mohs 7-7.5, orthorhombic system), and one of the most strongly pleochroic minerals known: viewed along different crystal axes it shows blue-violet, yellow-grey and nearly colourless. Its name derives from the Greek ios, meaning violet. Its pleochroism has a well-documented historical use, as Viking navigators used thin pieces of Iolite as a polarising filter to locate the sun on overcast days, effectively a solar compass; the polarising property that enabled this is genuine and measurable. Principal sources include India, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Brazil, Norway and Greenland.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
