The name covers two materials: naturally green chalcedony, produced mainly in Pakistan, and grey chalcedony that has been dyed green; both are common, so the treatment status should be confirmed with the supplier for a given piece. Both are durable at Mohs 7. Pakistan is the primary source of natural green material, with dyed material largely from Brazil.
