Red Tiger Eye Worry Stone - 2 inch

A band of light that travels the length of the stone as you turn it
$13.95

Product Description

Red Tiger Eye Worry Stone cut to a full oval with a thumb hollow, the fibre structure running lengthwise across the face. The colour is a deep auburn to brick red, considerably darker than golden Tiger Eye, and the chatoyancy reads as a soft band of light that travels across the stone as it tilts rather than staying put. Cut correctly, as here, the fibres sit parallel to the long axis so the band moves along the direction a thumb naturally travels.

Red Tiger Eye is traditionally associated with self-assurance and with acting under pressure, the red variant carrying more of that forward charge than the golden form it derives from. It is commonly held before something demanding, carried during a period of sustained effort, or given to someone who needs to hold their nerve rather than to settle. Turning the stone to watch the band move is a large part of why people keep picking it up.

Geological Information
Red Tiger Eye is a quartz pseudomorph after crocidolite, silicon dioxide at Mohs 7 in the trigonal system, in which silica has replaced the original mineral fibres while preserving their parallel alignment. That preserved alignment is what produces the chatoyancy, the band of light travelling across the surface. The red colouring comes from extensive oxidation of iron within the crocidolite fibres, taking the material well beyond the golden-brown of standard Tiger Eye. Both natural and treated red material exists and South Africa produces both: some specimens develop the colour naturally through more complete iron oxidation in the deposit, while a proportion of commercial material is heat treated from standard golden-brown Tiger Eye, typically above 300 degrees Celsius, to achieve the same effect. The treatment status of this material has not been confirmed with the supplier. South Africa is the primary source, with further material from India and Brazil.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
