Richly patterned volcanic stone for growth and renewal

Product Description

Rhyolite Tumbled Stones show complex banding and patterning in greens, greys, pinks, reds, browns and cream, with each piece reading like its own small landscape. Polished smooth, the flow-banding and mineral patches give the stones depth and visual movement. The range runs from small pocket stones up to comfortably palm-sized, and the patterning makes every one feel distinct.

Rhyolite is traditionally associated with movement through change and a sense of creative renewal, and is often chosen by people working toward growth or new directions who want a grounded footing alongside it. It is commonly carried, kept in a workspace, or held during reflection. The rich patterning also makes it a striking display stone.

Because rhyolite forms from varied volcanic minerals, no two stones share the same patterning, giving each a dynamic, individual character.

Geological Information
Rhyolite is a fine-grained, silica-rich igneous rock formed from rapidly cooled high-silica lava, with a Mohs hardness of 6 to 7. Its mineral content is similar to granite, but the fine grain results from rapid surface cooling rather than the slow subsurface cooling that produces coarser granite. Its highly variable colours and banded patterns reflect diverse mineral inclusions and flow-banding that occur during eruption and cooling. Several popular trade names, including Rainforest Jasper and Rainforest Rhyolite, refer to this material. Rhyolite has been worked by indigenous peoples of the American Southwest and Australia for tool-making and ornament for thousands of years. While the USA, particularly Oregon and Wyoming, is a primary source, this material is supplier-noted as sourced from Madagascar, with the stone also occurring in Australia, Mexico, Germany and Iceland.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
