Selenite Heart - 1 inch
Product Description
The Selenite Heart is a pale, softly luminous stone in white to translucent grey, with fine parallel striations running through the body that catch light along their length and give the surface a silky sheen. Light passes readily into the material and glows back rather than reflecting sharply off it. The Heart is small and noticeably light for its size, sitting easily between two fingers. Translucency and the visibility of the striations vary from piece to piece.
Selenite is traditionally associated with clarity and focus, and carries a long, unusually consistent lunar association across cultures, reflected in its name. A secondary association with calm and stress relief places it in bedrooms and meditation spaces more often than on working desks. The soft glow is much of the appeal, and pieces are commonly kept where lamplight or daylight can reach them.

Geological Information
Selenite is a crystalline variety of gypsum, a calcium sulfate mineral at Mohs 2-2.5 in the monoclinic system, white to colourless with a distinctive fibrous striated structure and silky lustre. It is one of the softest stones in retail circulation and is water-soluble, meaning prolonged water exposure will permanently damage the surface. The name derives from Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, referencing the material's soft white luminosity. Thin selenite slabs were used as window material in ancient Mesopotamia and Rome before glass was widely available, and Mexico's Cave of the Crystals at Naica, discovered only in 2000, contains selenite crystals exceeding ten metres in length, among the largest mineral crystals ever recorded. The material is natural and requires no treatment. Morocco is the primary commercial source, with additional material from Mexico, the USA, Poland, and Australia.
AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
