Product Description

Smith-Waite Centennial Tarot in a Tin is a pocket-sized reproduction of the deck Pamela Colman Smith created in 1909 under the direction of Arthur E. Waite, printed in the muted colours Smith chose. The 80-card set includes the standard 78 cards plus two samples of Smith's non-Tarot artwork, packed with a booklet in a hinged metal tin. The cards run notably small at 2.25 by 3.75 inches, well under half the face area of the standard edition.

The reduced format changes what the deck is for: it travels, it shuffles in one hand, and it lays a full Celtic Cross in a space where the standard edition would not fit. The imagery is identical to the full-size Centennial, so nothing is lost in the reading, though the fine detail in Smith's minor arcana scenes is harder to study at this scale. It suits readers who want the reference deck available away from a table.
