Smith-Waite Tarot Deck Borderless

Smith-Waite Tarot Borderless presents Pamela Colman Smith's 1909 artwork in a borderless format, with the imagery extending to the card edge. The 84-card set includes the standard 78 plus four reproduction samples of Smith's non-tarot work: the watercolours Catch Me and Duet, her Lovers illustration from the play Deirdre, and an illustration from the sheet music for Christmas Carol. An instruction booklet is included.

Removing the border changes the reading experience more than it might appear, since the frame in the standard edition separates each card into its own object while a borderless spread reads continuously. For a deck whose minor arcana carry full pictorial scenes, that continuity is substantial. The extra artwork samples give a fuller picture of Smith as an illustrator beyond the deck she is remembered for.
