Thousand Layers Sphere - 2.0-2.5 inch
Product Description
The Thousand Layers Sphere is a fully polished orb of finely banded stone, its surface marked by an extraordinary density of thin layers in cream, brown, grey and tan. The bands wrap around the Sphere in tight, parallel lines, so the pattern shifts as the piece is turned, and the smooth polish gives it an even, tactile finish that sits well in the palm or on a stand.
Thousand Layers stone is traditionally associated with transformation and steady growth, its layered structure read as a record of slow, patient change, and is also linked to balance. People keep a sphere like this on a desk or shelf as a grounding, contemplative object, hold it during reflection, or choose it simply for the striking density of its banding. The sphere form is favoured for radiating its associations evenly in all directions.
As a natural stone, the pattern and tone of the banding differ from one Sphere to the next, so the piece you receive will be its own.

Geological Information
Thousand Layers is a Chinese trade name for a finely banded sedimentary stone, typically a tightly banded limestone or chalcedony, in which the layers are so fine and numerous that a cross-section shows an extraordinary density of thin bands. Its hardness varies with composition, from around Mohs 3 for the limestone-rich material to Mohs 7 where chalcedony dominates, and the exact mineral makeup varies between lots. The multi-toned banding in cream, brown, grey and tan is produced by extremely slow, cyclical mineral deposition over geological time, which is the source of the stone's name and its association with patient transformation. This material is sourced from China, where there is a long tradition of working decorative banded stones.
AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
Care Note
Depending on its mineral composition, Thousand Layers stone can be soft (as low as Mohs 3) and acid-sensitive. Handle it gently, keep it away from harder stones and from anything acidic, and avoid prolonged water exposure so the polished banding stays sharp.
