Spiritsong Tarot
Product Description
Spiritsong Tarot replaces the human figures of traditional Tarot with animals, each selected to match the attributes of the card it stands for. Paulina Fae, who also works as Paulina Cassidy, paints in a delicate, pale-toned style with fine linework and a great deal of decorative detail worked into fur, feather and background. A guidebook sets out the reasoning behind each choice.
The substitution is not decorative. Raven carries associations with creation that overlap with the traditional Magician, so Raven takes that card, and the same logic runs through the whole deck, drawing on Shamanic and Native American animal symbolism alongside standard Tarot structure. For a reader, the usual meanings are all still present but arrive through a different door, which can loosen a habitual reading of a card that has gone stale. It suits someone with an existing animal or nature practice, and it rewards reading the book rather than working from the pictures alone.
