Geological Information
This is a Lodolite, clear quartz, silicon dioxide at Mohs 7, containing inclusions of several minerals, including chlorite, feldspar and hematite, that create green, red, white and orange landscape-like scenes within the stone. The inclusions are drawn into the developing quartz during crystal growth, and under magnification the internal scenes show remarkable detail and three-dimensionality, so no two pieces are alike. It is also sold as Garden Quartz, Scenic Quartz, Inclusion Quartz or Shaman Quartz, all trade names for the same material, and the seaweed-like green inclusions in this batch are part of that natural variation. The trade naming and metaphysical associations are modern rather than ancient. The primary commercial source is Brazil.
