Geological Information
Trolleite is a rare aluminium phosphate hydroxide mineral, Mohs 5.5 to 6, typically intergrown with quartz, which produces the blue-grey and white matrix seen in tumbled specimens. It is named after the Swedish chemist Hans Gabriel Trolle-Wachtmeister and is genuinely uncommon next to most crystal-market stones. The Minas Gerais deposit in Brazil is essentially the only source of lapidary-quality material, which reached the wider market around 2020.
