Geological Information
Peach Moonstone is an orthoclase feldspar carrying trace iron that produces its warm peach body colour, with a hardness of 6 to 6.5 and a monoclinic structure. Its soft floating sheen, or adularescence, is produced by light scattering through the fine alternating layers of orthoclase and albite that occur in all moonstone varieties. Sri Lankan material is regarded as the finest and most translucent. India is the primary source, with further material from Sri Lanka and Madagascar.
