Product Description

These Mother of Pearl Tumbled Chips are small, polished irregular pieces in iridescent white to cream, with a spectral play of colour and a luminous quality inherent to the material. Sold as loose chips by weight, each batch differs in iridescence and surface character. Their small size suits crafts, bottles, grids, and decorative fill.

Mother of Pearl is traditionally associated with Calm and Stress Relief, its soft iridescent glow long linked with soothing, protective qualities. It is commonly kept for Love and Compassion and used as a gentle, nurturing focal point.

Because this is a natural organic material, the iridescence and surface character vary batch to batch, so the chips you receive will be uniquely their own.

Geological Information
Mother of Pearl is the nacre, the inner iridescent lining of mollusc shells including abalone, pearl oysters, and freshwater mussels, an organic material composed primarily of calcium carbonate in the form of aragonite with a Mohs hardness of 2.5 to 3. It is the same material as pearl, produced by the same mollusc, but formed as the shell lining rather than a discrete gem. The iridescence is structural colour, produced as thin overlapping layers of aragonite platelets scatter and diffract light to create the characteristic spectral shimmer. It is one of the oldest organic materials used by humans for ornament, appearing in inlay work across Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Chinese, Pacific Island, and Native American traditions. Principal commercial sources include Australia, the Philippines, Japan, and the Pacific Islands.

AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.

Care Note
Mother of Pearl is a soft organic material at Mohs 2.5 to 3 and scratch-sensitive. Keep it away from water, perfumes, and household chemicals, wipe with a soft dry cloth only, and store it apart from harder stones.
