Black Obsidian Tumbled Chips - 5-10 mm
Product Description
These Black Obsidian Chips are small tumbled pieces of jet-black volcanic glass with a smooth, glossy surface and a deep, even black colour. The chips are a loose, unstrung form suited to crystal grids, resin and jewellery craft, pouches, and decorative fills.
Black Obsidian is traditionally valued as a strongly protective and grounding stone, commonly used for clearing, release, and honest self-reflection. Loose chips like these are often placed in protective grids, added to craft and resin projects, or carried in a pouch. Their solid black colour makes them a bold material for grounding, protective layouts.
As a natural volcanic glass, each chip differs slightly in shape and surface character across the mix, so every piece is its own.

Geological Information
Black Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass, silicon dioxide in amorphous form with a hardness of 5 to 5.5, formed when silica-rich lava cools too rapidly for crystals to develop. Its jet-black colour comes from iron, magnesium, and other impurities, and its shell-like conchoidal fracture produces very sharp edges, which made Obsidian one of the most important tool materials in human prehistory. It has been used for cutting tools and weapons for over 700,000 years and was traded widely in prehistoric networks. The material is sourced from the United States, Mexico, Iceland, and several other volcanic regions worldwide.
AuturaSol Standard
Each natural stone is selected for its authenticity, geological integrity, and energetic clarity. Natural variations in colour, structure, inclusions, and surface features are inherent to geological materials and contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known treatments, enhancements, stabilization, or man-made characteristics are clearly disclosed within the product information where applicable. Every piece is inspected and photographed to reflect its true character; however, lighting conditions, screen settings, and natural variation may cause slight differences in appearance. If you have any questions about a piece before completing your purchase, we're always here to help. Where authenticity meets beauty, we tell you exactly what you're holding.
Care Note
Black Obsidian is a volcanic glass (Mohs 5 to 5.5) that can scratch and chip, and broken edges can be sharp. Handle the chips gently and store them apart from harder stones.
